Notes: 
1. This spreadsheet, "Northern New Jersey Demographic Data by County and Municipality, Census 2000," provides demographic data from the 2000 decennial U.S. Census for the eight counties of Northern New Jersey, each of their municipalities, and the cumulative 8 county region. The counties are: Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Hudson, Union, Morris, Sussex, and Warren. 

2. The data are presented in Microsoft Excel format (vers. 2000) 

3. Demographic data include population counts and percentages by gender, age, race, Hispanic or Latino identity, population in households and group quarters, housing occupancy, housing tenure. 

4. Column headings (identity of municipality) are listed at both the top and bottom of each column, for reader convenience. 

5. Data are arrayed in the following sequence: 
 1. Urban counties (Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, and Union), 
 2. Suburban/rural counties (Morris, Sussex, and Warren). 

6. Data sources: U.S. Census Bureau. Census 2000 Summary File 1, Matrices P1, P3, P4, P8, P9, P12, P13, P17, P18, P19, P20, P23, P27, P28, P33, PCT5, PCT8, PCT11, PCT15, H1, H3, H4, H5, H11, H12 ; Also, Quick Table DP-1 Profile of General Demographic Characteristics: 2000 Data Set: Census 2000 Summary File 1 (SF1) - 100 Percent Data
