Among its missions the Cornwall Center seeks to build a publicly available database providing statistics on Northern New Jersey. We define this region as the 8-county area composed of Passaic, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union, Morris, Sussex and Warren counties and their municipalities. In the early stages of constructing our database, we have elected to focus first on the 2000 U.S. Decennial Census on population, demographics and housing. In some cases we offer data from earlier censuses, for comparative purposes.

We anticipate adding data from other sources to this website in the near future. We also hope to expand our geographical coverage to include other sections of the New York city region and/or New Jersey. We hope that faculty and students, as well as the general public, will find this resource of value. The Center has mounted its own program of research on Northern New Jersey and encourages others to study the area from both scholarly and applied perspectives.
