Targeted Neighborhood Initiative

Michael Simmons, michael.simmons@rutgers.edu

This is a multi-year study of the implementation of a project of neighborhood renewal in Upper Clinton Hills and Fairmount, two of Newark’s most troubled neighborhoods.   Led by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation,  the project involves efforts in education, health, public safety, housing, recreation and economic development.  Residents of the neighborhood will be deeply involved in the planning of the work.  Some residents will be trained to take part in the research.
